Shugga Project Blog
Grilling, graduations, picnics and proms. Some frugal home cook is going to exhaust the arsenal of spices, including me. I go heavy on the spices and nobody complains. As you should have suspected as much. Seasoning food well ensures that each dish has the wow factor. So we can load up on spices at the Dollar Stores or buy in bulk to keep in your really cute spice containers. Ting!
Disclaimer: I took this photo about two years ago and since then, I stopped using the Italian spice which is next to the cayenne. Not really into basil like that.
In addition to spices, I keep soup, gravy bases in the pantry at all times. Your girl can make a mean, plate scrapping, biscuit sopping homemade gravy. Here's my quick list:
Above all - Season Salt and Kosher Salt
Must Have -Seasoned Ground Black Pepper Don't leave home without it - Garlic Powder Baked Chicken to Chili - Bay Leaves Cause I like it pretty - Paprika Secret ingredient - Turmeric Add a lil greenery when needed - Parsley Flakes Heat in everything - Cayenne Pepper Chitterling to BBQ base - Crushed Red Pepper No egg left behind - Chives Salads look prettier - Dill
In The Kitchen
Heat in the air will rob your spices of potency. Store in a cool, dark place.
Get Here - Oleta Adams. Slow motion, mid morning with your coffee music.
I needed a break and now I'm back.
