Like most American’s who like holiday pay, I worked my 8 on Labor Day. I started planning what I wanted in my mind. You know me. I never get tired of chicken. So, I got in touch with my Personal Chef. That’s right (tsk, hands on my hips)! Another date with my Personal Chef, that cooks while I sleep. Winning! In case this is your first time reading my blog or you just need a reminder, the Personal Chef is my trusty Crock Pot. No lip. Never picky. Just slow cooking while I roll over and kick into rim sleep mode. Having said that, you have my permission to tell folks that the Frugal Home Cook sleeps with her Personal Chef. That outta get a rise out of somebody. If you like sweet and savory flavor combos, this chicken recipe will have you curling your toes and chanting my name. Sti-Kaye Shick-en

Yes…meals are quick and easy with the help of the Personal Chef. Now I know when to call in the big dogs so that I can multitask in peace. (sleep and cook) I had the best Bourbon Chicken ever in life at a Chinese restaurant and I’ve
always wanted to duplicate the sauce. Basically, it taste like Sticky Chicken. So I hit the browser in search of a “Sticky Chicken in the Crock Pot” recipe. Read a few of those recipes and I wasn’t that crazy about them. I thought to myself, I’m a Frugal Home Cook. I specialize in using what I have on hand. Walking all hard, I go in and raid the pantry slash fridge and starting measuring. This recipe was one of my best creations. I’d enter in a competition. The Crock Pot. The Chicken, and 3 ingredients and you’ve got Sticky Chicken.
Alicia Keyes - Never Felt This Way (Interlude) It’s a 2 minute song that’s
pretty, soothing and mellow. It’s bedtime and we need to wind it down. Plus, it
takes less than a minute to get this recipe going in the crock pot. Let’s not
waste time. We need a short diddy and then it’s lights out.
Serving size for 6 Chicken Drumsticks
2 cups hickory smoke bbq sauce
1 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons onion powder
You can season the chicken ahead of time with S&P if you like. I used Seasoned Salt. Lay the chicken drumsticks in the crock pot. Add about ½ cup of water. Pour over bbq sauce, brown sugar and onion powdered. Give a quick stir. Cover the
crock pot and set for 8 hours if the chicken is frozen like mine was. If chicken is thawed, 6 hours should be sufficient. Cool and serve warm.
Just because it’s sticky doesn’t mean we don’t have to make it pretty. A
cheap reference to my last blog. White platters out please. Dark food on a white
plate is appetizing. Arrange each drumstick in the opposite direction and flank
the platter with plenty of napkins. Use up the holiday collection if you have
them. A Dill Potato Salad and a warm buttery dinner roll and you can relax.
