Your secret recipe could secure your family’s future
How much is that family recipe worth? Just ask Wendy Thomas of Wendy's or the decendants of Colonel Sanders, KFC.
Around 8 or 9 years ago, I read a success story about a woman who used a secret family recipe handed down by her great grandmother, to create a condiment known as Honey Crème Syrup. I’ve read a lot of success stories but this one had a greater impact. Michele Hoskins created Honey Crème Syrup with the hope of leaving her daughters a legacy. Today, she’s a huge success with Michele’s Foods. Her products are sold nationwide in over 10,000 stores. Mission accomplished.
Who Has the Secret?
Someone in your family guards those secret recipes. Got an uncle than can throw down on the grill? You know your mother’s sweet potato pie recipe is finger licking good. There are a lot of families out there with really great recipes that could possibly generate a little or a lot of cash. It’s worth exploring. What it is? A beverage, a jam, a dish or a dessert? The creations are endless and nobody does it like you. Preserve those secret recipes. Sell your best dish and create your own family legacy.
Your Money Maker
Start off with something small to get your feet wet without investing a large sum of money. Market your product to friends, co-workers, or associates and let it fly. You’ll soon know if you have a hit worthy of a larger investment. If you decide not to invest in a long term effort, use the proceeds from your sales
to create a family scholarship fund or as a fundraiser for reunion expenses. If
nothing else, it’s a good bonding project for the entire family.
My wheels are already turning.
