I'm a native of Farrell, Pennsylvania and I earned a B.A. in Telecommunications from Youngstown State University in 1986. I'm a budding entrepreneur who reinvented and branded myself to become the Frugal Home Cook. I'm 54, single and I currently reside in Austintown, Ohio.

My name is Heidi L. Smith and I'm excited to share my budget recipes and food tips with you. Join me weekly and I'll show you how to stretch your food budget and make a full plate.
In 2010 I was forced to trade in my carefree career girl lifestyle for a more frugal way of living. I had an extremely tight budget and food had become slim to none. I said a lot of prayers and buckled down. I quickly found that it made more sense to buy groceries and cook at home. I equipped my kitchen, put on my apron and developed my own simple and quick recipes. The end result was a full pantry, a full plate and leftovers to boot.
My challenge had become my passion for cooking, baking, blogging and food photography. As the Frugal Home Cook I get to be cheap and creative, which is something I thoroughly enjoy sharing on the world wide web. My site has evolved over the years from the original Shugga Project Blog to include an additional blog, Foods that Heal and a recipe page.
I am humbled by all of my faithful followers and grateful for new visitors to my site each day. Join me and learn how to "make a full plate in a tough economy."
